Front Story (“we”, “our”, “us”) operate advertising technology platforms that help publishers monetize digital content and help advertisers deliver relevant advertising experiences.

In certain circumstances, we process limited personal data based on Legitimate Interests in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

This page explains the legal basis for that processing and how we ensure that such interests do not override the rights and freedoms of individuals.

1. Purpose of Processing

We rely on legitimate interest for certain activities necessary to operate our advertising technology services, including:

• Advertising performance measurement
• Content performance analytics
• Ad delivery optimization
• Fraud detection and prevention
• Frequency capping of advertisements
• Security monitoring and service integrity

These processing activities are essential for maintaining a functioning digital advertising ecosystem and supporting publishers who rely on advertising revenue.

2. Legitimate Interest Test

Under GDPR, a legitimate interest must pass a three-part assessment.

2.1 Purpose Test

The processing is necessary for the legitimate business interests of  Front Story, including:

• operating an advertising platform
• measuring and improving advertising performance
• ensuring fraud prevention and platform security
• enabling publishers to monetize their content

These interests are widely recognized in the digital advertising industry.

2.2 Necessity Test

The data processing performed under legitimate interest is limited to what is necessary to achieve the purposes described above.

Examples of data used may include:

• pseudonymous identifiers (cookies or device IDs)
• IP address (truncated where possible)
• browser and device information
• interaction data related to advertisements

We do not process sensitive personal data under legitimate interest.

2.3 Balancing Test

We have evaluated whether the interests of  Front Story override the fundamental rights and freedoms of users.

We determined that the impact on users is limited because:

• data is pseudonymous
• no direct identification of individuals occurs
• data is used primarily for aggregate analytics and operational purposes
• users have the ability to object to such processing

Therefore, the processing is proportionate and reasonable.

3. Data Protection Safeguards

To protect user rights, we implement the following safeguards:

• data minimization practices
• pseudonymization of identifiers
• limited data retention periods
• strict access controls
• secure processing infrastructure

4. User Rights

Individuals located in jurisdictions where data protection laws apply have the right to:

• object to processing based on legitimate interest
• request access to their personal data
• request deletion or restriction of processing

Users may exercise these rights by contacting us at:

contact@frontstory.com

5. Transparency and Consent

Where required by law (such as under the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework), we obtain user consent for activities that require it, including:

• personalized advertising
• cross-site behavioral profiling

Legitimate interest is only used for activities permitted under applicable law.
